Hugh and Heidi welcome you to Hill Farm Barns, Massingham. Set in 17 acres of beautiful secluded parkland, Hill Farm offers a peaceful home from home experience.
Surrounded by several different breeds of deer and an abundance of resident wild life. Coming from arable and dairy farming families, the countryside and rural life are a major influence in all that is Hill Farm.
It’s no longer a working farm and Hugh runs his agricultural PR business from converted outbuildings on site, while Heidi specialises in aesthetic and medical skin treatments, as well as running a busy family home and the B&B.
Hill Farm is a truly magical spot and has been the family home since 2003. Restoring the traditional brick and flint Georgian farm house and converting the extensive cattle crew yards into luxury 5* accommodation has become a lifelong project. Many original features have been carefully kept or restored. All the flints needed and some timber have been sourced from the site itself. We like to think we have created accommodation that is authentic, characterful and yet with all the mod-cons that help life run smoothly, such as intelligent lighting, underfloor heating and WiFi.
Though not a truly organic experience, when not home grown, we like to source materials and produce, locally and choose to eat seasonally, reducing our carbon footprint. We are Bee keepers and very proud of our incredible honey and bi-products (soaps,balms etc). Our pollinating friends are spoiled for choice with an abundance of varied trees in the arboretum, flowers and lavender in our pretty walled garden and flora in our wild flower meadow. We have put in a bore hole, 75m into the ground and source all our water from it. It is treated before and after use, so that it can be recycled into our pond to encourage further wild life and provide somewhere for the deer to bathe. We have plans for solar panels on the large barn, which will further reduce our carbon foot print and take us one step closer to our self sufficiency ambitions. We are blessed to live in such an idyllic spot and we plan to work with nature in not just preserving it, but also showcasing and sharing it to maximise you visit with us.
Hill Farm is situated in a peaceful and unspoiled rural position a short distance from the picturesque village of Great Massingham with its attractive period houses overlooking several ponds fed via natural springs.
